American kestrel (2020)

Inge Marleen - American kestrel (amerikaanse torenvalk)

American kestrel, 2020, oil on canvas, 30 x 40 cm

The natural habitat of the American kestrel is large, open fields. It hovers in the sky or perches somewhere on the edge of the field on telephone poles and trees. The American kestrel is smaller than the peregrine falcon, in fact, it is the second smallest falcon species in the world. Only the pygmy falcon is smaller.
